In 1998, I returned to Paris, where I accidentally happened upon a fabric mill. Barrels of multicolored pigment lined the floors, and rolls of patterned, chintz, and floral fabric draped off long oak tables. Men worked by hand in the traditional, detail-oriented manner of another time. Mesmerized, I worked feverishly to create my fabric fantasies—transformations of my previous wall paintings. A few months later, Lulu DK Fabrics was born. Its mission was very clear: to merge the artistry and craftsmanship of the old world and the youthful modernity of the new.
